4 standard shapes

Dimensions

Five platforms ask for more than twenty sizes between them. Most are the same few shapes at different sizes, so every card is built in four standard shapes, each saved at the largest size its slots ask for.

The standard set

A card of any style (editorial, data or image) is designed once in each of these.

How the set was chosen

  • Shapes, not platforms. Instagram’s 1080 × 1350 and LinkedIn’s 720 × 900 are the same 4:5 shape. A card is saved at the larger size and each platform scales it down.
  • One landscape. Landscape slots come in two shapes, 1.91:1 and 16:9. They are close enough that one card serves both: the 1.91:1 card is built, and X and TikTok show it in their 16:9 slots.
  • No card for profile picture or cover photo. These carry the GINC mark, not data, and belong with the brand assets.
  • Two sizes read as slips in the table. Facebook’s vertical is given as 1080 × 1359 and is treated as 1080 × 1350; TikTok’s profile picture is given as 20 × 20.
